I actually bought this jacket specifically for kayaking to keep me dry while paddling. I'm very happy with it and I also find that I've been wearing it to work on those hot rainy days. Nice Jacket and fits well to size.
I didn't like the feel of the fabric at first, but I gave it a chance. Glad I did. It's a great jacket, light weight, yet a great rain jacket / wind breaker. I like the two-way zipper, but it is a little hard to get started. The only draw back would be the pockets, they seem backwards. But I understand the newest style has changed them.
I bought this jacket for a horseback riding trip across Ireland. We had very erratic weather, with sun, rain, wind, and even hail, sometimes changing every five minutes. I appreciated the quick and easy adjustments I could make on the fly (and while bouncing on the back of a horse!) – using the Velcro on the front placket when I didn’t have time to zip, and adjusting the cuffs with the Velcro there too. The high collar kept my neck and chest warm and dry. It was completely waterproof throughout the trip and even escaped from some bramble thorns unscathed. There were times when I wished it had more weight to it, but it served its purpose as an outer layer and I was easily able to fit up to five (!) layers under it when needed.
This is a good lightweight jacket, but I find that it ran large. Had to return it and go down two sizes. Granted I probably should have bought a size smaller to begin with, but still ran big as the the one I have now is still somewhat big! Will work well in the winter though, as I can layer it over some water resistant jackets I have.
