The Jacket is lightweight and roomy enough to wear heavier clothing underneath. I use it for walking when there is a misting rain. The zipper is difficult to get "just right" so that it can be zipped up.
First let me start by saying I bought this jacket because I love LL Bean and many of their products. I purchased this jacket to use during a recent walk in Aug/Sept 09 in the UK. It is called the Coast to Coast walk and it spans the continent from west to east. This jacket was great in the wind however it is NOT water proof. It rained almost every day on our 16 day hike. I spent the entire two weeks soaked. I believe that it can be used for a short walk while it sprinkles or a brief few golf shots in the rain but do not select this jacket for hiking on possible rainy days.
This is a nice item to have. It is very portable without wrinkling. I have used it quite heavily for several months now because we've had lots of rain this summer. I never got wet under it and I love the hood. I would have rather not spent quite so much but I figure I will have it forever.
