I've been looking for a new rain coat. I saw it on the Daily Markdown, so I thought I would try it. I used it a few days ago. I like the lightweight fabric ~~ nice for summer. I believe there is plenty of room to wear a layer under the jacket in the cooler weather (purchased the medium - Coral Rose).
If you are looking for an affordable, lightweight, summer rain jacket, this is it! Perfect for wet weather for three seasons. I usually wear a medium but found I needed the large for more hip coverage and room for layering.
In recent years, I've been relying on my rain-and-shine coat or various hoodies to get me through rainy school days or showery errand-running days...But when I saw this item at the hard-to-resist daily markdown price, I knew it was time to buy a "real" rain coat. After reading several reviews, I chose a brown size L over a pink M for my 5'1", medium size frame. I love the little bit of extra room the larger size gives me and the brown color will be very versatile. Because of my stature, this jacket is more of a car coat length on me....which I actually prefer to the length shown on the model. The sleeves are a bit long, but using the velcro tabs to adjust the cuffs to the smallest width took care of that issue. The coat was put to the test today when the dog and I got caught in a surprise rain shower during our daily jaunt. I had no zipper difficulties as I threw up the hood on my new jacket and closed up the front. I'm sure the dog wished that she had remained as dry as I did underneath the promised protection of this great coat! I highly recommend it!!
I've had my Trail Model Rain Jacket about 2 years now and have been happy with it as protection in warmer temperatures. It would not be suitable in wintertime as it is not lined. That said, it was pricey for a lightweight jacket.
The jacket is easy to carry around if not worn. As others have noted, the material is a bit "noisy", but this isn't an issue for me personally. I bought the 'coral rose' color, which was a surprise when it arrived. (Think "bubble gum pink"-yikes!)
However, I decided to think outside the conservative box for a change, and got used to it.
Cannot really comment on wearing this jacket while exercising heavily- the material is kind of rubbery in feel. I've had no problem with light to moderate walking.
Its condition has remained like new through multiple washings and the color has not faded. This jacket has seen plenty of use this Spring in Massachusetts.
