I just got he turbo transit pack and it is an extremely tough bag so far. It holds tons of books and tolerates wieght very well. It is comfortable and a very large, but good size.
I purchased my first Transit pack when I was in 5th grade at the LLBEAN store in FREEPORT. I had it monogramed and felt so cool walking into my 5th grade classroom that september. Little did I know that I would feel cool walking into my 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th grade classrooms as well. Recently the bottom zipper malfunctioned slightly and the bag's reflective tape was worn off. This is when I used the Lifetime Replacement. Within a week my new backpack arrived and although I had sentimental attachements to my old bag, I will make new memories IN COLLEGE with my new one. THANK YOU SO MUCH LLBEAN. It must feel good to know that your products are actually loved.
This bag is beautiful - structured well, color is great, but it is not for me. I tried the backpack 'on' and found that it hits my neck and shoulders in a very wrong place (average 5' 6" female) and it was very uncomfortable. Also, I was disappointed that there are no outside netting pockets to carry water bottles, etc.
Unfortunately, I will be returning this backpack - maybe I'm just terribly picky.
I applaud LLBean for this backpack. It is highly durable and holds substantial weight. We bought this when our son transitioned from middle school to high school. My son is a scholar and takes upwards of 40 lbs of books daily.
Because of this volume weight, the backpack sustained 1 1/2 years of use. Somehow, I don't think the Turbo Transit was designed to hold this much weight. The top zipper failed first, then the top edge of the right back strap.
Otherwise, for normal use, I highly recommend the Turbo Transit. We are buying another one to take him through his balance of high school.
