I recently had a five day trip. This pack was all I took on the plane. The lower compartment held 2 pair of shoes and the main compartment all the clothes I needed.
This pack weighs too much empty, forget about carrying it full! I bought it for long hikes and overnight trips but rarely use it because of the weight. It is also a very awkward size for a woman - I'm 5'4" and the bottom pocket just hits wrong on my back and hips, especially if full.
The straps on this pack are also poorly positioned for a smaller person - too close together at the neck and spreading too wide at the base. The discomfort from the straps makes this pack useless for long hikes.
I love this backpack! I have been looking for a large pack in various catalogs and stores and online. Could not find anything close to my expectations. I needed something large enough to carry my gym clothes and shoes, lunch, work things, extra change of clothes plus personal items. I needed easy access to bus pass, keys, cell, and ipod. This pack could handle all of the above and more. The zippered bottom panel is great for gym shoes, exercise clothes, towel, etc.. . . just about anything. Lots of room inside the main compartment. Comfortable to wear. Reflective strip on the padded shoulder straps for night. This pack would be excellent for travel or for a day hike. I haven't washed it yet but the reviews on this item were excellent. I got the clay color so that it would match anything I was wearing and still look professional. I would recommend this - great value. Thanks!
