I purchased this bag for use as a work/gym bag. Since my fitness center is at work, I often end up with my laptop (work) and my gym bag. I also tend to have a purse and a lunch bag and find my body is happier with a back pack rather than something over one shoulder. While it too some getting used to, I LOVE this bag. It is SO nice to be able to carry my gym stuff and my laptop on my back. The bag is quite roomy, holding many items, but not with an oversized footprint. The one thing missing for me is a holder on the outside for a water bottle.
Purchased this for my middle son. Oldest son bought this backpack two years ago, uses it 5 days a week, FULL of heavy books and it is still in perfect condition. Even when my children were in elementary school and carried minimal things in their backpacks, any other backpack would get holes, broken zippers, etc., by the end of the year. LLBean backpacks are the only way to go!
This is another quality product from LL Bean!! I can fit my size 11 womens sneakers in the bottom, probably even add a pair of sandals. Just used it for an overnight trip and still had plenty of room. This would also be great for going to the gym, etc. Everyone should have one!
Both of my sons have had "Bean" backpacks..One for K-6...And we only had to replace these due to lack of room for the upcoming Middle/High school and college years! This particular backpack works great with the extra zipper pockets and the ipod slot! Would never buy another backpack anywher else!
