Though the fabric and size are great, the zipper on this backpack constantly gets stuck with the fabric surrounding it. Our son could not get his books and papers out to show his teacher at school or us at home. It was the most frustrating backback ever--and we've had many! The designers should definitely change the zipper design. It's a disaster!!!
Last year I bought one of these for my five year old, and it worked great- no complaints with the bag itself. So I bought a flowered one this year for my pre-k daughter and had it monogrammed with her name. When it arrived the monogram had been stitched through a great big flower of the same color so that it doesn't even show. LL Bean needs to change the thread colors used for the flower bags. I was extremely disappointed with the monogramming!
I wanted this for my daughter last year (4yrs.old) who loves the color "PINK" but it looked so pale and light on the web that I never ordered it. I read the previous review that said it was almost like a hot pink, so I decided to place the order and just receieved it.....nothing like the picture, almost like a dark pink rose color (which I love). The best thing to do before purchasing a bag is to look at the "BOOK GUIDE" on the web and it shows the true colors of the bags....I love it, it was a bit expensive but worth it. Hopefully it will last.
We have purchased one of these for both our kids. They have been going strong for over two years on both with daily use. No frays, rips or broken zippers. They look brand new still because they are dark colors. Perfect size bag to start a preschooler with.
