My son graduated from a diaper bag to a Green Gecko backpack when he turned 2. We love it! The design is fun & unique and I love the personalization. I do wish it had a cup holder compartment though.
I love this pack. I bought two 2 years ago for my niece and nephew for Christmas because they were in pre-school and had camp. 2 years later and they are still using them. A month ago I bought another for my 2 year old nephew who starts pre-school in the fall. He loves it. He wears it around the house putting toys in it. The pack is durable and will last for years, even after being dragged on the ground, etc. . . .
Our household owns three of these Junior Original Book Packs, all monogrammed with first names. The oldest of the Jr. Packs is 5 years old. I purchased it for my daughter when she was three years old and she turned seven a month ago. She uses the pack all of the time and has "run it into the ground." Despite the beating it's taken, it still looks like it was purchased new this year. She is going to have to move up to the next backpack size before her Jr. pack is worn out! The money I SAVED not having to buy my daughter a backpack when she was four, five and six allowed me to purchase each of my two boys (5yrs. & 3 yrs.) their own Jr. Pack as well. Other cheaply made backpacks we've purchased elsewhere in the past often fell apart before a school year was up and it was usually necessary to write my child's name in in big, tacky, black permanent marker letters on the front. The Jr. Pack fits nicely my three children ranging in age from 3-7, and their monogrammed names on the front add the perfect touch to the classy bag. My littlest (20 months) will be the next to receive her personalized L.L. Bean Jr. Book Pack!
