I have been purchasing LLBean bookpacks since I was in High School and now I'm getting them for my kids. It turns out that this model was too small for preschool! The lunchbox and a water bottle fit in, but left room for nothing else! Also, the zipper (maybe it was just my model) was constantly getting stuck in the fabric. I'm sending it back and getting a larger model. Grateful that LLBean has a quality guarantee because this did not live up to their standards.
I got this for my daughter for day camp 4/2011. She finished out preschool with it and even though something (sap/bug spray or screen) got on the bottom of the bag and peeled the lining on the inside and left a stain we cant get out. It has stood up to a full year in Kindergarden and another year in Camp. Everything else may get stinky and tossed at the end of the summer but the backpack will live to see another year. We also have an LLbean lunch box that I got for her when she was 1.5 for daycare, she is now 6 and still uses it everyday through school and camp.
Very cute and sturdy pack. I did order tis with my child's name on it. Not sure what went wrong/why it was not on the order. Disappointed but not worth sending back.
