We ordered this for my daughter when she started kindergarten. She used it the entire year and again for first grade. It began to get a little on the small side for second grade, so we ordered from another major company for second grade...boy, that was a mistake! After using the other company's backpack for second grade, it looked horrible! We are back to order two original plus backpacks and matching lunch kits. My kids still use the L L Bean backpack for toting things back and forth to their grandparents' houses...still works and looks great! Definitely going to stay with L L Bean from now on!
When it was time for my son and to sit down together to pick out his very first school backpack I turned to LL. Bean. My little man is no joke, he is a true boys boy so I needed something that could hold up to him. The quality promise is what solidified my choice. He picked out the Crocodile print and wanted "patiently" ;) for it to arrive. When it finally came I was very pleased with it's workmanship, high quality material, nice stitching, reflective rails, nice webbing. My son immediately put it on a refused to take it off. To show size we currently have a full size folder, a composition book, a 1quart locking lid tupperware container containing all of his school supplies and the LL. Bean lunch box. There is still room for a change of clothes, a water bottle and some smaller things. He is in Pre-K and I expect this bag to be big enough through kindergarten, after that we will have to upgrade, but we will use this at home for trips and such. A great bag and highly recommended!!!!

This is my 1st order from L.L. Bean. I received the wrong color backpack on Friday. I called them and the CSR was outstanding. They send another back and I received it today. Backpack is amazing, perfect size for my little 23 months old and great quality. I am so pleased by the way they handle the issue. I would definately buy again from L.L. Bean.
i bought this pack for my god daughter to use in kindergarten. i was sure she'd do some damage, but it has held up so well shes going to use it for the first grade as well. it is well worth the $spent. sure you can find similar ones for half the cost elsewhere...but they fall apart half way through the school year! thanks for offering a perfectly sized back pack for little ones...that lasts!
