Dear L.L. Bean, My 6 year-old kindergartener has a ton of stuff to bring everyday to school as he also did in pre-school. He has an L.L. Bean lunch bag, folders, a snack bag and then an addtional snack baggie for extended day. In cold weather, he needs to carry his sneakers (he wears his boots), bring in his snowsuit for recess and fit his water bottle (this LL Bean backpack style does not have an outside bottle holder). When all is said and done this backpack is simply too small. Since your bigger backpacks tend to be for 7 years-old and above and truly do not sit well on his shoulders, I am at a loss. Your backpacks are the best and the other brands don't compare, but the junior backpack doesn't seem to hold the many items even young kids need to carry nowadays. Any chance you'd make it a tiny bit bigger?
ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected, withstand boy toughness
I purchased this for my oldest son when he started kindergarten, he is now in the 3rd grade. The backpack has held up and has no flaws so far. The only complaint is that the lime color shows a lot of dirt. Next time I will order a darker color but he picked this color out. My youngest son will start kindergarten next year and he will be getting a new backpack. This is a great price for such a durable product!! Great job L.L. Bean.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected, cute!
I bought this for my 4 year old son, who is now almost 6 years old! He has been using this day in and day out during two school years. It still looks great and we got the red one and the color still is very bright. Perfect size for the little ones. I think he will outgrow this before it wears out!
We use this as a daycare bag for our one-year-old. It fits everything she needs and has plenty of space for projects, etc. that build up during the week. It's easy to throw over a shoulder while toting the wee one around. Our 4 year old will even carry this in addition to his own when he's in a mood to be helpful!
