I bought the blue/orange shark backpack for my 3.5 yr old. It's lightweight and the perfect size to hold his lunch bag (blue/orange sharks as well) some books, ect. The front pocket also has neat little pockets inside to hold their stuff as well as another zip up on the very front. It has adjustable straps and good quality zippers/stitching ect. It fits him perfectly!
I purchased this backpack for my 3-year old son to use in his first year at preschool. I have been very pleased with it. It's the perfect size for him (not too large, as would have been a standard backpack), yet is surprisingly spacious enough to fit a regular size 3-ring binder, a change of clothes, and more. I like the outside zipped pockets, which are perfect for storing pencils, tissues, sunglasses, and other small items.
I ordered this item with a single letter monogram, which makes the bag look even better. Thanks, LL Bean, for a great little backpack for my little guy. The best thing about it is that he loves it!

We bought two of these for our little boys when they were in daycare. They were pefectly sized for youngsters, and they loved that they could carry them themselves. We had them monogrammed, which made them even more proud to carry them around (like big kids). My kids have since grown and have moved on to the older kids' backpacks, but we still use these bags for trips to the swimming pool, outings, daytrips, overnight to grandparents, you name it. They barely look worn, and we've had them about 5 years. The straps look brand new and the zippers work perfectly. We have put them in the washing machine on gentle numerous times, no fading, and no wear. Not sure if they are meant to go in washer, but just like their lunch boxes, they come out looking super clean. What I really liked the most about this backpack though was that it was light and compact. Kids really can carry these. They fit a lot (a full change of clothes for daycare, along with their snowpants, etc.) but are jurnior sized. Excellent and I would (and have) recommended to many friends. Love LL Bean products.
