I bought this backpack for my five year old son in July. He began using it for summer camp the day after it arrived. It endured four weeks weeks of wet pool towels, field trips and a cross country flight. The best part, it still looked brand new on the first day of school.
It is great in size for smaller children. A folder, most library books and a lunch box will fit in the larger compartment and the smaller pockets are perfect for kid size treasures. The straps are well padded so my little guy never complains about them digging into his shoulders. The zippers of the larger compartment tuck away under a fabric flap which helped keep the pack's contents dry during a recent afternoon storm.

I intended this book pack to be carried by my son to preschool. While he's not quite sure about wearing it yet, it's the perfect size for him at 2 1/2 years old and I was pleasantly surprised that this will easily replace my bulky diaper bag. It easily holds an LLBean lunch box, change of clothes, school work, and any little toy that he's feeling particularly fond of on a particular day with room to spare! Perfect purchase that's destined to last at least until Kindergarten before we run out of space! As an added bonus I love the red because we are big supporters of our local college football team!
It is pink with her initials ... she loves it. The bag has enough room for her pre-school journal, lunch, snack, and napkin. It sizes will for a 5 year old with lots of play in the strap, so I anticipate a long life for this bag. I recently heard that one of her pre-school friends wanted an LL Bean bag just like hers!
