Ordered this backpack for my oldest son entering Kindergarten in 2005. Added the monogram w/our last name hoping I'd be able to pass it down to my 2 younger boys. 5 years and later this pack has withstood lots of wear and it still looks great! My small complaints are with the zipper sometimes catching in the lining and it is a bit too small to hold a binder easily. Size up to the original if your tot has full size supplies to tote. This one goes in the first day of school memories chest...*sniff, sniff*. ; )
Bought this pack for my son for Kindgergarten and after a few weeks of him draggin it around, it developed a small hole near the bottom. But, I bought from LL Bean because of their 100% guarantee and got a hassle-free replacement. He should have this pack for years to come.
We just received the Junior Backpack in Lime green. My son was so excited! As was I! A previous comment stated the Lime green color was too bright. I was a bit nervous ordering this color based on this review, but I wanted something bright. The color swatch shown on the website is a good representation. I wanted a backpack that stood out in the sea of navy, black and burgundy that hid dirt. This is my oldest child entering kindergarten. My first concern is safety. I want to be able to see him in a crowd. The color as well as reflector strips will help with this. I LOVE the green and am so pleased with it. Living in a monogrammed world as we seem to be these days, I do like the new options LLBean offers. We chose to just place the first letter of our last name for a couple of reasons...safety, first and foremost, and it would allow our daughter to use the same back pack 2 years from now. The backpack fits our son perfectly! I am so pleased with this purchase, specifically the color. I can't wait for the first day of school!

ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected
My son has had his Jr book pack since he was approximately 2 1/2 or 3. He is now almost 7 years old he was so excited when we got him his first book pack from LL Bean he had to be like dad and have a black one. He loves it so much he chooses to pack his overnight bag in his LL Bean book pack versus taking his "Going To Granpa's" luggage. We were so surprised. It is one of the first bags he chooses when we go anywhere. It does not matter if it is a short trip to the library or a long trip to Maine to see his Nana. He takes it to school, roadtrips,and we've even taken it tubing down the river in South Louisiana and it got submerged in water and his clothes never got wet! We Love LL Bean for its great products, affordability, durability and the great memories that go along with them. My husband and my son are like 2 bulls in a china shop rough on everything and every thing I have purchased from LL Bean I have been happy with. In addition to my online purchases I love the Freeport Store the staff is helpful and Friendly made me feel right at home. :)
