This bag is sized perfectly for preschoolers! After a year of school and seeing other kids' bags, I loved how this one didn't overwhelm my 3-yo's skinny frame. It's large enough for a simple folder, art projects, light snacks (in the organizer pocket), and a change of clothes (incl a bulky sweater). It's also a good size for a quick dinner out as the straps extend long enough for an adult to use as a mini-pack.
I bought this bag for my son when he went to Kindergarten. It's the perfect size and now that we are almost through w/ the school year, it still looks brand new. BUT, the one thing I hate about it is that it had no place for a water bottle. Our school requires the kids to bring a water bottle everyday to school. I normally put it in the front pocket, but if it's a bigger water bottle, it falls out. So, unfortunately, we will be looking elsewhere for bags next year.
I love these backpacks. I have always relied on the quality of LLBean backpacks- you just can't find a better bag. I got these junior packs for my twins for preschool. They are the perfect size and the colors are very vibrant. They are such a great value for the price, and will hopefully last through Kindergarten. The reason I gave 4 stars is that you can't pick the thread color for the monogram online (you have to place a phone order). I didn't know this until after I received the bag, and the monogram on the girls' bags are rose color... not my first choice for the lilac and blue bag. They offered to redo the bag, but I thought that would be incredibly wasteful. Afterall, it's only for a 3 year old! I would absolutely recommend this bag since they are guaranteed to last.
I bought this bookbag for my stepson who is 5 and in pre-K. He'll be taking it with him to kindergarten next year. He loves it! It has his initials, so there is no question who it belongs to, and it easily fits the papers and anything else he can find to stuff inside. I had three LL Bean backpacks in school - I only need the new ones because the I "outgrew" the size of the old ones. On now to the next generation.
