I have bought 4 Junior backpacks for my grandchildren. The 2 older ones (one 4 and one 3) have had their backpack since age 2 and hardly look worn. I bought the regular backpack for my nephew who is starting kindergarten this year. He definitely needed the regular backpack over the Junior backpack because he needs to carry a towel, lunch, etc. Love the backpacks from LLBean. Worth every penny.
This bag is definitely a perfect size for pre-school age children who do not have a lot of things to tote with them everyday. It makes them feel grown up and remains practical, as you can put spare change clothes, etc. inside. As several other reviewers have noted, it is difficult to get a folder inside even though it is possible if you try hard enough. However, this is a very minor drawback as most small children will not be needing much paperwork related things going into their bags. For children in primary school, I would say get a bigger bag.
