I've been wanting to get another pair of these for a while. I used to own a pair back in college (20 years ago!) and used them working grounds crew on a golf course. They are the best overall boot for comfort and everyday use!

The quality of the materials and craftsmanship of the boot are readily apparent. Out of the box, the leather is soft, but still needs to be broken in. The laces are stiff, but I assume over time, they will soften as well. The tongue is stitched to the upper providing a waterproof boot, especially for large puddles in the street. I opted for the thinsulate version for this snowy winter in NYC. These boots are the perfect solution since I walk everywhere in the city (class, work, home).
Again, out of the box they are very comfortable. Follow their advice and order a whole size down. I wear a true size 11 and ordered a 10M. The fit is perfect with either a thin or heavyweight sock. I already ordered an unlined bean boot for the spring rain. Also of note is the difference between the Maine Hunting Boot and the Bean Boot. The Bean Boot is a bit more durable since the sole of the Maine Hunting Boot is designed to be thinner so hunters can feel the ground. If you're a city-dweller who walks everywhere, opt for the Bean Boot.

I needed some boots to keep the deeper snow out and enough space to tuck in the pants. These work. I studied all of the available boots and picked these. They arrived sooner than promised. I wear 13, ordered 12 and it works. I'd like a tougher sole.
