Got these for my son for Christmas. He works outside and his work boots aren't waterproof. These boots keep him so dry and warm. He loves them! They are made well and should last forever now that his size 14 feet have stopped growing. They run a bit large but once you have a layer or two of socks on they're a nice fit.
I purchased these in a narrow width. The fit on the foot was actually not too bad, a heavy sock would take up some space. The top of the boot, however, was much to large in diameter and was a very loose fit laced completely together and no, I do not have chicken legs. Apparently these are made for the very largest leg. LL Bean should realize that someone who takes a narrow size is not going to have a huge leg. I have returned the boots.
I usually wear a size 8 for running shoes/hiking boots, but purchased a size 7, per the instructions. They fit nicely with medium-weight socks. Relatively comfortable to walk in--I expect that they will get better over time. Not overly warm, as the insulating material is solely around the foot bed. All in all, a good purchase and I look forward to years of wear.
