...because this backpack won't be wearing out any time soon. This will be my son's third year with this pack, and it still looks brand new. Zippers are smooth and strong. The straps are still cushy. The only thing I would suggest would be a mesh bottle pocket on the side.
Prior to starting Kindergarten, My kids and I go to the ONLY place to buy back packs (LLB), let them pick their color and choose a font for the embroidery of their initials. Last year, my son chose lime green. This year, my daughter chose the lime flower print. It's enough pink and green to make any little girl giggle - which it did when she opened it. My son asked, "mom, do you think these back packs will last three years?" (his idea of a long time) I responded, "I bet they'll last a lot longer than that! Thanks LLB for a great (and fun) product.
I bought each of my sons an Original Book Pack several years ago. Both boys wanted the same color, so it is great that you offer monograms to make them easy to identify! My older son used his pack from third grade to fifth grade, when he needed to upgrade to a larger LLBean pack. I then used his Original Book Pack for three years of college classes; it is still in almost perfect condition and will be used next week when we visit Disneyland. My younger son used his Original Book Pack from preschool to fifth grade and is still using it for day camp this summer. I expect these wonderful backpacks will hold up for many more years! Highly recommended for boys who are hard on their backpacks!
i ordered this backpack for my son. it listed it as " blue", but in reality, it's verging on blue/purple. if i knew that, i would have gotten the green one w/ the same print.
