After almost one full school year, our first-grade son's Original Book Pack looks like new, including the straps and zippers. We paid a little less for last year's back pack form a local discount store, but it didn't make it 'til Christmas. The Original Book Pack is definitely a better value. The LL Bean Original Book Pack is made of tough materials to handle field trips, bus rides and a boy who's not always gentle with things. He loves all the extra pockets. We're glad he likes his Book Pack because he'll be carrying it next year too. We've also ordered the Original Book Pack for our other three children and definitely recommend it.
I have purchased four of these for my small grandchildren and they are wonderful! Trust me, the two older ones are tough on them and the babies are used as diaper bags. I had all their names embroidered on them to make them feel special. There is tons of room, two front pockets for little items that would fall to the bottom of the main bag. One of them is 4 years old and still looks great!
This is a great book bag! My son destroys at least 2 a year and this one is great and still looks brand new! I am extremely pleased with it and will be getting one for my Daughter (Who is easier on things!) before the next school year. :)
I just want to say that this back pack is one of the best I have ever purchased, aside from the junior model which is just as great! My daughter is four and we bought her the junior model and she loved it! When my step-daughter saw it she wondered why she didn't get one and was disappointed. Since she didn't go to school here she did not need one. I told her if she ever did go to school here she would have one. We just recently got custody of her and one of the first orders of business was ordering her her own L.L. Bean backpack with her monogram on it! I ordered in on a Wednesday night and it was here and ready to be loaded with all new school supplies on Saturday which was perfect because she started school on Monday! It is very roomy and holds alot of weight comfortably she is finding out with all of her homework! She also found out that alot of the kids have them as well so she fits right in at her new school! I wish I would have had one while in college! Thank you L.L. Bean!!!!!
