I bought my son a Junior Original in preschool, and we're still using that to haul stuff around. When he started Kinder, we got him a regular-sized backpack. It has lasted very well through both Kinder and now first grade. I'll keep this backpack as long as he doesn't outgrow it! Still looks wonderful.
One small thing: the monogramming service has been touch and go. That first pack we bought, it was perfect. This current one, the letters were off-center and I was told that couldn't be fixed. My daughter's backpack also has a weird monogramming issue. So, that may not be worth the extra money, cute as it is.
Great quality. Every now and then the zipper will go over the fabric, but it's not that hard to fix.
Overall this is an excellent backpack with one glaring flaw. The fabric flap that covers the zipper constantly gets caught in the zipper. It is so frequent a problem I kept a pair of pliers handy for the sole purpose of correcting the problem. I finally gave up and bought a different backpack. The fabric is very sturdy and the zipper has not broken. I have washed it several times and it still looks as good as new. I bought this backpack for my seven year old and was the perfect size.
This is a great backpack :-) My son loves the cool pattern & colors and I love the way it holds up to everything he gives it! It is very roomy and is easy to carry for a Kindergartener, even when full. I'd buy another one any time!
I have returned and exchanged this backpack two times already because the zipper keeps breaking. I don't understand why this keeps happening. My son doesn't seem to have a problem with zippers usually.
