I've owned this bag and the deluxe myself for at least 15 years... With 5 kids under 6, I'm not about to buy a new bag for each child as they enter elementary school! It's well-constructed, comfortable, attractive and affordable with color options to suit both boys and girls... Our 1st grader received his already... He is tall -- 50 1/2 inches -- and it comes to the middle of his rear... Instead of getting "themed" cheapo bags, they can display their changing interests with backpack clips... The kids were already "debriefed" that they will be using the same bag until at least 8th grade... LOL!!!

Very pleased with the Original BookPack Prints. We bought two for our daughters ages 4 and 7. These are great packs large enough to handle the work of Pre-K and a second grader. I found other bags too small for the regular sized folders used in all grades and all the art work sent home. These bags hold the LL Bean Flip-Top lunch box, all their work, books, sweaters, sneakers, blankets and stuffed animal. They are pretty, strong and sturdy. We will use these for many years to come.

this back pack WILL complete your life! it's the perfect size (straps adjust for tall people) and the colors are perfect. i bought mine, used it one day, and immediately ordered another for my best friend. l.l. bean is always great, but they outdid themselves on this classic pack!
My mom bought me the Original Book Pack when I started high school in 1992. I used it all 4 yrs of high school, 4 yrs of college, and 2 yrs of post grad. I've taken it on several vacations. Now, my 5 yr old carries his lunchbox and folder to Kindergarten in it (yes, the SAME bag!). All the zippers still work, no rips or tears anywhere, the handle and shoulder straps are still firmly attached. It's the last back pack you will ever buy.
