I bought this backpack for my 2 year old to replace his diaper bag. He loves being able to carry it all by himself. It is holding up incredibly well--he does drag it on the pavement occasionally! It is perfect for a change of clothes, diaper, book, and some matchbox cars! I like the reflective strips on it. I only wish it had a bottle holder on the side for his sippy cup or water bottle. Right now it is a tiny bit big for him, but I plan on him growing into it and using this for preschool and elementary school. This was a great investment! I love it, and I know it will last!

I bought my ll bean at the beginning of this school year, and I love it. It is comfortable on my back and it holds all of my books. I have wanted one for a long time but always thought they were a little pricey, but now that I have one I see why. It is so worth it. I even convinced my brother and one of my friends to get one. I bought this pack for my daughter who started kindergarten this year. I went with this size because she is nearly 6 and tall. I thought she might not get much time out of the packs recommended for 5-6 yr olds. I LOVE THIS PACK. The quality and colors are great (geo print) but I do wish I had gone with a smaller size. The pack is so generous that it is too much room for K or 1st grade. It's not too too big, but the small would have been better. If you are considering this because you are afraid the smaller pack may be too small, be aware that this pack is kind of large for a 6 yr old.
Very pleased with the bag. it's my portable office. I didn't need the extra space of the deluxe version and this bag was only about an inch shorter than the deluxe. I like the nylon pack material which I think holds up better. I had a messenger bag, but the polyester was pulling apart in several seams, which is why I went this route. How well do I know pack nylon holds up? I have a 28 yr old Bean rucksack still going strong. The only sign of wear is some color fading from the sun.
