This pack is perfect! Our 10 year old graduated from the Junior Original to the Original in third grade and is starting her third year with this pack. The space is just enough for her math and science books, as well as her folders. The extra pockets provide great organization for all of her penicls, erasers, and other what-nots. What's best, in her opinion, is the personalization that comes with the embroidery. We are sold on L.L. Bean packs; there will be no others!
I just ordered this original book pack in lime green with monogram for my grandson who will be in Kindergarten this fall. It is a perfect size and the quality of workmanship exceeds my expectation. Even though my grandson likes red and blue, I chose the green for it's brightness of color as a safety measure. I gave it to him last evening. He was delighted. I didn't bring up the issue of color and neither did he. He liked it very much in lime green. My twin grand daughters who are 3 will be getting their back packs in the same color with the monograms when they go to school in two years.
I bought this backpack when my son went to PreK. While going through his things to get ready for Kindergarten we found some melted candy in the pocket. The tag says to spot clean, so I used a wet wash cloth. It worked great! The backpack is like new, there are no signs of the candy at all.
L.L. Bean has always made the very best book bag. I got my little girl her very first one for Kindergarten and she loves it. I'm not sure if it's the cool Geo Tiles pink design or that her name's written on it, but it was like Christmas the day we got it in the mail. My son, who is very rough, has the same kind but blue, and it’s lasted a couple years, though I was a bit doubtful. I grew up with L.L. Bean and I wouldn’t have anything less for my kids.
