We ordered the blue flower patch for grade 2. She loves it, and I think it's very cute. My only problem is with the monogramming--as someone else said, the thread color (rose, no choice), just does not show up against the strong colours in the print. Should've saved the $6 for monogramming. Also would like to see a water bottle pocket on the outside, like her big brother has on his "critter pack" backpack.
I ordered this for my 3 and 4 year old boys a couple months ago. I thought about going with the junior size, but this is the same backpack I had all through school and it stayed in great shape through college at which point I donated it. It looks a little big on the 3 yr old especially, but he has no problem carrying it and although they are really rough on things, it is holding up great and I have no reason to think their backpacks will not serve them well through college too.
I bought this for my son when he was in kindergarten. He is now entering 5th grade and the backpack still looks new. He drags it on the ground, throws it around, and stuffs it full of stuff. We are ordering the next size up deluxe model and I love knowing that it will last as long.
I purchased this backpack as a birthday gift. It was a huge hit! As with all of the LL Bean backpacks, the quality is great and it is very durable. The pockets allow organization, and the padded straps are easier on their shoulders. As a mother and a teacher I ALWAYS choose LL Bean. These backpacks are well worth the money, and actually save you money, because they last so long.
