Bookbag made very well as you would expect from LLBean, however, I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a little side pocket for a water bottle like most bookbags have. I also bought the Deluxe backpack for my older daughter. For a bit more money you get a side pocket as well as much more room on the inside. If your going to spend the money on a bookbag, I suggest the bigger bag. It will probably last more than one school year anyway. The girls' embroidered names add a cute touch.
This bag has EXCELLENT quality. The zippers are holding up great, there are no rips yet in the fabric or runs, fading, etc. We usually go through two back packs a year, but this one is lasting so far. There is also a tag for their name..so no more writing on the bag itself. It holds up in water, mud, and sports. Overall you NEED to get this bag, if you are thinking of purchasing one. :)
This is the second backpack we bought for our son, only because he didn't like the color of the first backpack we bought. His first one is still in excellent condition, and it will get used. Both backpacks are durable with lots of wear (my son is only 6, but he takes it on fieldtrips in the summertime, too). It's big enough to hold his LL Bean lunch box, and his homework, etc.! My only wish was that it was offered in orange.
I would highly recommend this to anyone! I was looking for a perfect book bag for my 5 yr old daughter for school that would grow with her and could be used over and over! We bought the jr. bag for preschool (it still fits her but she wanted a "big" one) I figured we'd try a bigger bag and pass the other one on to her younger sibling... it became our dance class bag instead! The age recommended states 7 and up... it works great for us at 5, it is a little big but we adjusted the straps. I would never say ridiculously large for her! Great Bag would highly reccomend!!!
