I bought this backpack for my 6 year old daughter. I thought I would invest in a good quality book bag that would last her for several years. We ordered the floral print with her initals embroidered on the front. Here are some pros and cons on the bag: Pros- the padding on the shoulder straps is very thick. The bag has held up well thus far in the school year. Beautiful color with bright patterns Cons: the bag is fairly heavy even with nothing in it. (this becomes more of a problem when you add a folder, book, lunchbox and jacket for a 1st grader) The padding is a little too thick at the top of the shoulder where it makes it uncomfortable around the neck area. The embroidery on the purple and green floral print is purple. You cannot even see there is embroidery there. My husband spent 5 minutes looking for it before he found it....it is not worth the extra money as you do not have a choice on the color. Even though I know this is a good quality bag, I most likely would not by another one.
I ordered this book pack for my grandson, who started second grade this year. It was all I expected from L.L. Bean. you see I ordered both my daughters back packs over 25 years ago from L.L. Bean. My daughters had the same backpack from first grade through high school and one of them even took it to college. She still uses it.I ordered my grandson the smaller one than this one when he was 2 years old. He took it to day care through first grade It is still in great shape but, alas there is more homework and bigger books in second grade. The quality is and has always been top notch.It is nice to buy a product that last.This book pack is great, I would highly recommend it
My 2nd grader is very hard on things. Last year she had this backpack for 1st grade. Everything she needed to take to school fit.... She would drag it through the mud and the snow daily. By the end of the school year it was still had no holes or stiching problems. Its an amazing backpack!
This is a great backpack! Our 3rd grade son loves it! It was hard for me to find a sturdy, "traditional" book bag for him without alot of commercial cartoon crud all over it. This pack is very durable, classic, and a great value. I expect him to use it for years to come. Thanks LL Bean! :)
