I'm not a "hat person" so felt a little odd the first time I wore this hat in public, but I got compliments from casual acquaintenances who wanted to know where I got it. I'm very pleased with the comfort and style .
I like this hat because it's stylish enough to wear into town but also very useful when working in the garden. I expect it will keep its shape longer than most sun hats, too.
My only suggestion is that the strings should be shorter (I kept on catching them in the handles of the lawnmower until I wore them down my back instead of in front).
I ordered this in "Natural"; I'm the non-hat wearing type because I have a wide, round face, and had tried on countless hats, baseball caps, that would NOT flatter my "flaws" --- but I needed a hat for the summer that would be fashionable AND flattering on me ---- I FOUND it when I first tried on this straw hat!!! --- it had enough sun protection coverage, my face was flattering in it, AND my face/hair wasn't smushed, or "buried under", nor made my round face look unflattering for once!!! It will be the perfect all-around summer outing hat --- can't wait to try it!! THANK YOU for featuring this product L.L. Bean! --- you've made this past, hopeless, flattering hat searcher find her quest at last!
I love working in my flower gardens and have been looking for a great "yard hat" (besides a ballcap) that gives lots of coverage as well as style. This is the hat! Lots of coverage, nice colors to choose from (I bought pink which is a great soft heather pink). Not too hot, the band inside is wonderful and has a pretty leather tie if you want to use that. No more caps for me!
