I used this hat for gardening nearly every day for about a month before it started falling apart. First, the eye holes for the tie detached and the straw started to unravel. Then the hat lost its shape and just sort of drooped. Maybe if you wear it for special occasions only it might last better.
This is the second hat I purchased, have had the first one for quite a long time (many years) and it is still in great shape. Got this new one for the blue color and love it. It is a lighter in weight than the older hat, but still great quality. May have to get the pink color!
This hat has a generous brim that protects your face. The leather chin strap allows you to take the hat off without having to carry it as well as keeping it on during breezy days. Very comfortable!
I purchased this hat to wear at an outdoor college graduation. It was comfortable and kept me shaded and cool in the Texas heat. I like the way it looks and fits.
I have not squashed it into a suitcase yet.
I do think the leather strap is too thin ato cinch up for any length of time. It is more like string than a strap and cuts into my chin and jaw. I gave up using it even though it was windy and it would have made the hat feel more secure. Overall, I am happy with the hat.
