I like this hat. I bought it specifically to canvas in. It is an election year, after all. I am 48 years old and I feel like it ages me slightly. However, I like the sun coverage. I think it's kinda cute. It is very light-weight. If anything, I could stand even more sunlight coverage. I bought the light blue one.
I have fair skin and sunburn easily, so I need to wear a hat on summer days. Unfortunately, I've rarely met a hat that I like...until this one from LL Bean. It's attractive, comfortable, and I didn't detect the odor mentioned by other reviewers.
I was very disappointed, though, in a quality issue. After wearing the hat just twice, one of the grommets that holds the under-the-chin cord, detached. I hadn't been pulling on it or otherwise mistreating it. If this hadn't occurred, I would have written a rave review.
At first I really like this hat - got lots of compliments. But then the cord started hanging around my waist. It's not attached just looped around the top so it kept coming undone. Very annoying! Just lost it and not that sorry to see it go! :(
I am usually a very happy and loyal LL Bean customer. I was taken by surprise on this one. The first time I wore this hat, the grommet came out of the hat and I was left with a big hole. Other customers noted the same problem. I assumed LL Bean would have addressed this problem, but they have not. Otherwise, it's a terrific hat to travel with, but not usable with the hole!
