I used this hat on a trip to Italy, wearing it whenever I was outside. It was perfect - stood up to anything I did with it, shaded my face and neck, and looked good, too. I was/am very happy with it.
I live in SC and golf all summer. Good head protection is a must. I love the head band to hold the hat secure. Very lightweight and comfy for me to golf in. The strings can't be secured to my chin, though, for a windy day.
I've had previous versions of this hat, wearing them for several years till they got shabby. Great for gardening and just keeping the sun out of your eyes and off your face. These are always a little loose on my head (which is slightly smaller than average) but not enough to bother me. This new version of the hat has a harder rawhide cord than previous ones, which means that the bead you slide under your chin to hold it in place won't stay there for long. Not a big issue, but I do wish they'd go back to the softer strings.
