Love this hat. Bought it in the blue and the color is great. There is no odor and it protects my face from the sun. With a $10 promotional gift card from LL Bean and free shipping, I was quite pleased!

I bought this hat form my first ever cruise and it was wonderful. Packed easily and wore it on deck and at the islands we visited to keep the sun off my face. It stayed on even with the windy deck and on the little boat taxi that took us to St. Marten from the ship. I even wore it in the ocean and in the pool. Great buy for the money and pretty too.
First of all, yes, the hat is made of real straw, and it smells like the nearest horse will eat it right off your head--until you've worn it for a while. I happen to love that grassy smell, no problem. However, I did have to do major "surgery" on this hat to make it work for me. Within a day or so, the grommet had worked its way out of the straw, and there was no way to adjust the hat--it was falling apart. So, with a needle and thread, I sewed the grommet firmly back in place, and also sewed the leather cord onto the grommet itself to the measurement I needed. Much more work than I should have had to do. But the hat is great, and I really like it. It's just a lot less dorky than other sun hats.
