If you're only going to buy one blazer for "dressing up" then get something else. But if you need a micro-fiber coat for travel and work, then this is a great deal.
This past week I took it on the road for a week-long sales trip (long days working, customer dinners and running around at night). This thing was ready for action took a tremendous amount of abuse and seemed to ask for more. It came in handy after running through an unexpected rain shower. Raindrops just beaded up on the coat and were easy to shake off.
The multiple zippered pockets come in handy for travel. When its time to put your coat in the overhead bin, just zip up the pockets, fold it up and don't worry about it. When you go to put it back on its looking good and no wrinkles. You can't hurt it!
I followed another reviewer's advice and ordered in a smaller size. As a result, this coat is rather close-fitting and slimming, so thats a plus.
And I had dark buttons sewed on in place of the shiny brass ones that came with the coat. Come on, we're not shooting a Scotch ad!
First, I'm glad I ordered the size 38 as it was clearly large enough for my 41 inch chest; can't imagine what a 42 is like! I sent this item back as the collar was cut/creased so short that 1/2 inch of the felt under the collar was showing. Collar was otherwise "bunched up" as well -- looked tacky and not at all consistent with quality of past blazers I have gotten from Bean.
Good overall satisfaction although for January 2010 I found the lapels too wide for current style tends. I'm not expecting cutting edge styles from L.L. Bean but perhaps the timeless classical design average width lapels would suit me better.
