So I ordered a large and it was huge so I sent it back for a medium and it is too small, pretty inconsistent sizing and now I have a shirt that is not wearable. Disappointed and will not shop on this site again.
After looking for a casual waffle knit shirt at various places around town, I ended up ordering one of these from llbean instead, because all other waffle knits I found were very thin and cheaply made. The first thing I noticed about this shirt was the heavier weight and quality. It's superior to all other shirts I tried on. Am going to order several more in different colors. I'm 6'2", 192 lbs. I usually take an XL, but have found that the llbean LG fits me just perfectly and not tight at all. This goes for their Oxfords too.
I first ordered two of these Henley's in Size Large. I'm 53 years old, 6 foot tall and weigh 205 with a 46" Chest and a 34" Waist. I am fit and slim but by no means a big body builder guy. I usually wear either a size Large or XL depending on the company and shrink rate of the product. For this Henley, the size Large was too small in the shoulders and length of sleeves. The body in the stomach area was a bit large but OK. I exchanged the two larges for two XL's. The shoulders, chest and sleeves now fit fine but the body in the stomach area is made for Santa Claus and very loose on me. While the fabric, quality of manufacture and style of these LL Bean Mini-Waffle Henley's is exceptional, I am not satisfied with the huge excess fit in the body. I'll be returning them and looking for a similar more athletic/slim fit product.
This is a good quality shirt, with a couple of caveats.
As a woman who likes to wear men's shirts, I've bought several Bean waffle knits in the past--and this one is much longer than previous versions. It's also quite a bit tighter around the hips than the other Bean waffles I own.
The color was also not what I expected: I searched for black, and when this arrived, I saw it was closer to brown.
