I bought the mini waffle henley in two different colors for my husband (size was large tall). I washed them in cold water and dried them at a low temperature and they shrunk by 25%. The sleeves are now two inches too short and the body of the shirt is tight. I'm giving the shirt two stars because it has a good look and feel, however, I'm very disappointed with the shrinkage.
After reading the majority of the reviews, the consensus is that these shirts shrink up after the first wash.
I trust LL Bean shoppers, so I bought an XL instead of an L and am very thankful I listened to their advice.
When I tried the XL on before washing, it was long in the torso and a little long in the sleeves. After the first wash the sleeves are just a bit short, nothing that won't stretch back out by bending at the elbows. But the length is perfect.
BUY AT LEAST 1 SIZE BIGGER!
I would suggest LL Bean offer more colors, because I would definitely buy more of these shirts.
Nice lightweight henley which lends itself for layering. Runs a little tight as a henley should. Arm length is good and shirttail runs shorter than some henley shirts but in this case I think that is great and I like it. LL Bean should make contrast color buttons for this shirt like they do for some other shirts - like a brown-bark color would make it stand out more.
Ordered 3 in medium for my husband. One was too large & waiting for a small. The material has a nice medium weight (slightly different weight depending on color) but overall soft & warm. Haven't noticed a problem with shrinkage and have washed 3 times. However, I don't use the dryer for shirts or pants/jeans. I hang them on a laundry drying rack. If needed, when they're about dry, put in dryer on delicate for 10 min. to soften & manage wrinkles.
