This is a superb quality sweatshirt, and very durable. It has exactly the right weight to it, heavy enough without being suffocating yet light and breathable enough to throw on when its just chilly outside and not yet cold. The inner fleece is extremely inviting.
It is cut relatively baggy, though. I am a 15"x34" dress shirt guy (tall, thin), and even purchasing a small the chest area is not what I would call trim fitting (not excessively baggy, just not fashion-runway slim). The small is the right length in the arms and almost perfect in the torso, though, so I definitely recommend sizing down if you are in doubt about its fit - it should still be long enough.
I buy theses for my husband every year, he lives in them to lounge around the house during the winter months, both here in S.C. and MD. . Please carry the shorts also for summer & spring. Great product, everything from LLBean wears great and last forever.
I say surprised because while this sweatshirt is not as beefy as I expected (and pictured) it to be from the catalog description, the quality of construction is excellent--or should I say usual for LL Bean. The weave is different, finer from what one usually expects for sweats, something like the weave of a dress shirt compared to that of a flannel shirt.
