We've bought 90% of our clothing form Bean for over 25 years! But what is happening? Same wonderful service as always, but quality is going down. Lots of changes in fabrics & fits of even 'old reliables'. I've had to return way too many things the last few years due to these problems. Usually the mens 'clothes aren't as problematic as the womens' in this way but the mens' are cathcing up...
Now to the specifics of this sweatshirt (and also matching sweatpants): the fabric is very differnt than all the other pairs of the same item I've bought over the years. This time it's MUCH thinner. My husband is keeping them as he needs some new sweats (though who knows how long they will last), but I'm afraid in the future we will have to switch to a competitor for this item. This seems to be happenning with many Bean products, which is very disappointing. I would much rather do all my shopping at Bean but it's becoming impossible. I know I can always return (and these days I often do) but it's time-consuming, and I'm still left without what I need. Sadly, the quality seems to be coming down to that of big box stores it seems, but with higher prices...
I am a female and purchased one of these sweatshirts when I noticed other women were doing so. LLB might want to consider making the exact same thing but to a woman's sizing specs.
These are great, well-made shirts. The fabric is thick, soft and cozy. The cut is roomy. The details like hem and cuffs, collar triangle are excellent. They are the dream of what a woman wishes our sweatshirts were, but never are.
I had to send mine back. The shoulders for a man are broader, the arms wider and longer, the length longer the neck wider. Unless a woman wants a very sloppy shirt, this will not do.
Of course, LLB is offering a man's shirt! I realize I was taking a chance. But after noticing so many girls, along with myself, being attracted to this "classic" sweatshirt, I just hope to alert others and maybe give LLB a hint about making a "real sweatshirt" for the rest of us.
