The mock turtlenecks are generally very good, but the portion surrounding the neck needs to be revised so that it stays tightly and neatly around a wearer's neck, even after several wearings.
I have been buying Mock Turtlenecks from LLBean for over 20 years. The current 100% Cotton Mock Turtlenecks don't compare to the old 50% Polyester/ 50% Cotton Mock Turtlenecks. The current ones don't hold their shape, don't feel as good, and don't look as good. I have old 50/50 Mock Turtlenecks from over 10 years ago that still look great. I am very disappointed with the current Mock Turtlenecks!!!!
Mock turtlenecks from LLBean are a staple of my wardrobe. I wear them multiple times a week, and recently pulled the trigger on adding some in preparation for the winter months.
Unfortunately these current ones are NOT the same material thicknesses. The material thickness is close to a regular t-shirt fabric.
It kinda defeats the purpose of a turtleneck to have such thin material. I assume its cheaper, but I am going to have to return these and look somewhere else (after all these years)
I used to buy these all the time when they had the 50/50 blend (cotton/polyester). Fit great, held color, durable, snug neck and cuffs. Lasted for years. But a while back they dropped the blend and only have all cotton. Material gets stiff and fades after a few washes, and the cuffs and collar stretch out and sag. After one winter they're shot. Bring back the 50/50, and I'll buy again. Not until then.
