The collar of these mock turtlenecks are very disappointing. They stretch out, become loose, and look very sloppy. They need more elastic fabric. I bought three in one order and now wish I had bought only one. The rest of the construction is very good but this problem reduces the score to just barely acceptable.
I ordered a large (6'2",195) I took it out of the bag and put it on. Way too big. I put a sweater over it and out the door I went. I washed it. The next time I wore it the arms were too short and the cuffs had no gripping ability and slid way up. I washed it and sent it back. Very disappointing as it would seem so simple and I have had other Bean Tnecks with no issues.
Bought 3 of these at the beginning of the cold season . . . Wear as a base layer . . . Fits well, washes well (if you pay attention to the tag) . . . Liked them so much I came back for more . . .
I like the looser neck, the printed-on label, the heft of the fabric. Always suspicious of t-shirt shrinkage, I've been buying up one size & that has worked so far, although the first one bought, gray, seems to be shrinking still in the sleeves after almost a rainy season of washing cold, drying low. How about making these out of the "carefree t-shirt fabric"? I have one of those, bought to size, & shrinkage is not an issue yet after maybe a couple of months of weekly washings. 4 stars due to shrinkage anxiety even with sizing up.
