I bought two of these for my husband and returned one. Like other reviewers, he wanted the neck to fit more snugly and not be too high. We found what we were expecting, at a competitor's website.
Not like my previous purchases. Granted, the fabric is soft, smooth, and comfortable, however, the collars of these mock turtlenecks are higher than my previous ones, and after wearing for an hour or so, they stretch out, become loose, pull away from the neck, sag, and make for a very sloppy appearance. I prefer a more snug fit around the neck on my turtlenecks. Don't know if this is just poor design or a production problem. The label on my previous shirts indicated they were made of a cotton/polyester/spandex blend, had a much neater fit, and held their shape in the collar. That is why I decided to order replacements. I would like to see a return of those shirts. It also appears that L.L.Bean has gone with the current trend of doing away with tag labels and printing their labels on the inside back of the shirt, which will wear off in time. I have always enjoyed the satisfaction of seeing the familiar label tag with the L.L.Bean logo anytime I have donned an item of their apparel. It may seem trivial, but that label with their logo always reminded me that I was donning a quality product from a quality company. I'm sorry to see them do away with the tag. I will be returning the turtlenecks and hope they decide to offer the blended cotton product again in the future.
I have purchased the mock turtleneck in the past and it was my favorite. However, I wish I read the most current reviews before my recent purchase. The neck is very loose and curls as has been written in other reviews. I compared it to my older LL Bean mocks and the fabric is much thinner, neck much more flimsy/loose and the shirt is made somewhere different than my previous mocks. It feels thin and in my opinion is not up to LL Bean standards. Very disappointed.
