I've bought 2 of these in the past and loved them. I bought this one recently and it had a different neck line. The mock neck was higher than in the past and looser fit. The height of the neck looked out of proportion. Quality was still there and while I can't say it was bad it just didn't look and feel quite right. If you like a higher neck line and looser fit, you'll love it. I returned mine.
I ordered two of the mock turtlenecks, white and black. My disappointment is that the neck rolls rather than hold its turtleneck. I am a big fan of ll bean and have been very pleased with their products but this one could be improved.
In an unusual turn, I can't really recommend this particular item. The fit seemed to me to be the biggest problem, although I can't say the material was particularly impressive either. I like mock turtlenecks to fit closely around my neck and not hang loose. I wear a 16/34 in my dress shirts and "Large" in my others. I ordered a large here and, while the body fit fine the neck was unacceptable. Sent it back. Not a bad shirt if you have a larger neck size or like extra, extra room around your neck.
