Although I love cotton and wear it almost exclusively, I do love this robe that doesn't have any cotton in it at all. It's soft and warm for my entire body, including my usually-cold ankles, which is an important feature for me. The belt is substantial enough not to get twisted up all the time, too. I bought it a few weeks ago and just laundered it (front-loader) recently. It endured the process with flying colors, looking essentially the same afterward. Expect a little static electricity with this during the winter of low humidity, though.
I wear small talls in most things, and the small in this robe fits me perfectly. I'm 5'6", and the robe hits right at my ankle, and the sleeves are long enough when not rolled up. There's lots of material to wrap around without gapping. I agree with others that the fleece could be heavier, but it's warm enough for SoCal. I'd like some brighter, more interesting colors. The red is just okay.
I ordered this because I got the men's robe for my husband and he loved it and although the fit wasn't right for me so did I. But they don't have the nice grey in women's, and the fabric is not as soft or plush as in the men's. The men's robe comes down to the knees. The women's robe is extra long--trails on the floor of my 5'3". I will have to get it shortened. The men's robe has contrasting trim. The women's doesn't. So I would would say that it is not bad, but somewhat disappointing. It is still warm and soft, but without much in the way of style or fit. For the price I expected better.
I was given this robe last winter and still can't believe how nice it is. It's warm, but lightweight. Easy to wash and fluffs up like new each and every time. Perfect length - mid-calf, and I'm 5'9". No pilling. Nice pockets. Made with the quality we've grown to expect from L.L.Bean. I just can't say enough good things about it.
