I bought these for my husband for Christmas one year ago. My son in law has them and loves them. We were all surprised that they ripped at the stitching on both at the toes and the leather tore on both at the laces. The soles are fine. However, LL Bean has excellent customer service. I went on their website, immediately got to chat with a representative who was very nice and helpful. They are replacing the slippers and prepaying for the shipping as well. So I guess they were worth the expense and I hope the new pair last a bit longer.
Our slippers have always come from Bean's, so we consider ourselves faithful buyers. But this pair, as good as they look and initially felt, seem to fall short of the $50 they cost. The sheepskin lining is *really* thin, particularly underfoot (we might as well be in stocking feet), so there's no doubt we'll soon be buying an extra insert for comfort's sake (easily an additional $25-30). Other than that, they're seemingly well made.
I got these for my Dad who is in the nursing home. But they are so narrow he can't get his feet in them. Luckily I used my LL Bean credit card cause I'd be really upset to have to pay shipping back for unreasonably cut slippers.
My husband loves these slippers. He has a very wide foot and has a difficult time finding slippers that really fit. LL Bean has the slipper that meets his foot and his expectations at the same time. A great fit for a great value! I recommended these slippers very highly.
