I have five fern border rugs in my home (two 8 x 10's, two runners, and one 5 x 7). These rugs are the best value because they are tough as nails and pretty on my hardwoods. I'm saving my money to buy another large fern border rug! Does that say it all? You won't go wrong with this product. I only wish they still carried the country green color.
Winding down from yet another move, I really didn't feel like adding "rug shopping" to our very long "to do" list. Although I have never purchased a rug on-line before, I knew if there was any issue with this purchase from LLBean their excellent customer service team would take care of things. The reviews I read were also helpful so I thought I'd take the time to write this. I ordered the 8' x 10' rug in the color Wheat. As one reviewer said, it's a very nice shade of a somewhat "golden wheat"; i.e., a warm color that is very flattering with our golden pine floors & medium cherry furniture. We were surprised at how quickly the rug flattened out after unrolling it. We just used some solid heavy boxes #still packed# around the edges for a couple of days to help it along. We are very pleased.
I bought this rug for a bedroom in a summer home. It looked beautiful at first. After the first weekend there were a few pulled fibers along the border. After the second weekend the whole center of the rug unraveled. I believe our dog's toenails got caught in it and the whole thing fell apart. I assume a cat would have the same effect on this rug. I threw what was left of the rug away before we got even part of a summer out of it. I would not recommend it for households with pets!
I got this rug to use in front of my front door for summertime. It's a good size and should be durable, although I will replace it with something tougher for winter's slush and salt. Note that the description of this rug recommends using a separate rug pad, but this rug already has a non-slip backing. I ordered the rug pad as recommended, but don't feel the rug pad is necessary. I am returning the rug pad.
