We didn't know what to expect with this rug since it was advertised as "defies stains and stands up to heavy traffic, kids..." So we bought the 8x10 Fern rug in Wheat (to match our wooden floors)and tested it with our 2 and 4 year olds. Yeap, it does stand the test of kids! It's under our dining table and catches everything. We can't even tell where the stains are unless we are looking very carefully after a meal. With a damp rag, we wipe up the spills then with a quick vacuum, food scraps and bits are all gone. The fibers are also soft and comfy to walk on. It's also thicker so the edges don't curl up. We were so impressed we bought the matching runner and will also get another full size for our living room. Definitely a great deal, especially with a LLBean card since shipping was free.
First let me say this rug is beautiful and of very good quality. After having it for a few months I've noticed that the edges are not as "sharp" as when new. The fibers look a little "fuzzy." My biggest disappointment is that my dog's nails get caught in the loops. One pulled out about 8 inches. I had to cut if off which left what looks like a "hole" in the pattern. I would recommend this rug if you don't have a dog. Note: I have my dogs nails professionally cut and filed once a month. Overall, it is a beautiful area rug.
I recently bought the Fern Border runner to compliment the Fern Border rug that I have in my living room. First, let me say that I bought the Fern Border rug a couple of years ago. When I opened the runner, and placed it beside the rug, I was pleased to see that even though they were purchased years apart, they matched exactly! My Fern Border rug has stood up to wear and tear beautifully and it is not detectable that the runner was not purchased at the same time as the rug. The only reason I didn't give this runner five stars is that it is a little "high". By that I simply mean that its height makes it a little difficult to open the doors in the hallway where I placed this runner. Great product at a great price!
These rugs are great! They are thick and far more substantial then expected-especially for the price. they do not need a rug pad to keep them in place. They clean up nicely. I have four dogs and a cat so things in my house are never just for show and I shop with that in mind. I am very happy with these rugs! LLbean provides a great value for the dollar.
