I got these to wear for summer fly fishing when waders and boots are too warm. These exceeded my expectations! The length was perfect, they were light weight and they dried really quickly. Also, they are very comfortable. I'd definitely recommend these swim shorts for anyone who is active. I'm planning to pick up another pair!
LL Bean, what have you done? When I purchased my first pair of these shorts, over 10 years ago, I was very surprised by the excellent quality for the price. These shorts were identified by a small black patch sewn on the leg with the LL Bean logo in silver. I wore them to run in, to do yard work in, and even to swim in. They held up amazingly well. When I bought them a second time, they were identified by a green sewn-on patch, with the logo in khaki. Still very good quality. Then I bought them again more recently, and disappointment doesn't even begin to describe my feelings. These shorts have the LL Bean logo embroidered on the leg, and quite frankly, I was shocked at how the quality and the fit had deteriorated. Flimsy material, cheap waistband...had I purchased these originally, I would never have purchased another pair. I would pay more for better, and I imagine most of your customers would as well. It's not always about the price.
I've been purchasing supplex shorts for years. I wear them for running and swimming. They've been very good quality, convenient because of the pockets, comfortable, well-fitting, and quick drying. I purchased new ones last summer (size medium). They were huge in the waist. I checked the waistband against my old pair and it was 1 to 2 inches larger. I contacted LL Bean and they were gracious about sending me replacements. The replacements were also way too large. I purchased one size down --small), but the dimensions were wrong because I don't wear a small. Frustrated, I just returned them, hoping my old supplex shorts will last a long time. I was hoping that 2013 would bring back the proper sizing, but after reading the recent reviews, it doesn't look that way. Please bring back the previous design which I would have rated 5 stars. These shorts are the most versatile garment I own. I use them for swimming, canoeing, hiking, working out, yardwork, and general casual wear. I even wear them under my wet suit when I go scuba diving. I own six or seven pairs and will get a few more for this summer. Great pair of shorts.
