The alarm light works like a strobe light. The alarm light did not wake me up the first time because I was not facing the clock. If you are expecting your room to light up you will be disappointed. I did use the setting that uses the bell to wake me up if the light did not wake me up. It is a good idea to use both the light and bell. The bell sound is pleasant and is better then the electronic Buzz.
Would have rated 5 stars had this product not been made overseas! Beyond that it seems very well made and works better than we had anticipated. The light alarm works for us and the soft glow at night option is a nice touch.
The Moon Beam clock is perfect. It has a soft glowing face - like the moon - and if you don't want the light the switch is easy to find in the dark. The sound alarm is not jarring and harsh the way my last digital clock was. I'm sorry others have had problems but it is working just fine for me. I can't judge its durability since I have only had it a month but I hope it lasts a long time.
