I got this clock because of its look and the advertised 'gentle awakening' with the light. Unfortunately, the alarm itself was extremely loud and annoying like the old wind up alarm clocks with the two bells on top. Also, it was difficult to set the wake up time accurately, as the clock hands were not tight and did not stay where you put them. I sent it back.

i bought this clock in the pale green color. we recently bought an old 1920's house, and i wanted something retro. plus i wanted to replace my klunky alarm clock. this clock did not disappoint. it's old fashioned looking, and the back up lighting is perfect. my 5 year old son loved it so much he wanted one of his own, so we bought another one in vanilla.
I recently ordered this item for a birthday present for my elderly mother. Her other alarm clock broke that she used in her assisted living unit. She just loves the Moon Beam; it reminds her of the good 'ole days (retro fifties) and she's gently awakened each morning with the pleasant blinking light and then the bell. She also really enjoys the glow of the dial. . .looks like a full moon at night! So pretty and functional. I got her the Vanilla color which is very soothing. I highly recommend this clock. Actually, I believe both my sister and I will also be ordering one from LLBean very soon!
I love the 50s and 60s retro look and this clock is wonderful. I purchased the classic yellow. It is simple to use. I find the light on the dial - just bright enough and not overpowering. It has the best alarm - it will definitely make sure you "Rise and Shine!" I have it across the room on a table so I can't hit snooze and fall back to sleep :) I get up when the sun is up so I don't use the light alarm. I highly recommend this clock. I adore its retro look! In fact, when I saw it in the catalog - I just had to buy it!
