I was looking for an alarm clock with a battery backup and two different types of alarms. I LOVE that the display has the choice of being back lit or not. What I am not as crazy about are how dim the initial flashing light alarm is (I easily sleep through this in a room with blackout curtains, and even mornings I am up long before the sun), and the actual alarm volume. The alarm is so loud and high pitched it startles me and all the animals in the house as well! If these two things had additional settings I would keep it, but sadly it will have to go back.
If you are a heavy sleeper, this is the alarm clock for you! I am giving this clock 4 stars instead of 5 only because the bell is so loud. I love the retro look of the clock, as well as the dim glow. I am sensitive to any light at night, but this light is very mellow and not a bit annoying. Based on other reviews, I was prepared for the clock to be huge, but I don't think that it is. The dial is large and very easy to read, which is perfect for those times when you awaken in the middle of the night, and want to see what time it is. Overall, I love this clock; I just wish the bell were quieter.
This is the best alarm clock ever for the non-morning person. It is not only eletric, but has a battery back up which I love. The best part of the clock, is the soft flashing pre-alarm light that the clock produces before the alarm goes off. I have had two for several years. Great!
I love this clock for its big, warm face and retro look. The light is gentle. It can even act as a dim night light. The alarm, though, is not gentle. It's a definite loud ring, not a little tinkle as some other people have said.
