The nostalgia behind this item was great; the clock is not. The alarm had a very annoying tin sound to it and overall just looked and felt like "cheap plastic". I purchased two (one for me, one for a gift) and returned them both.
This turned out to be about twice as large as I thought it would be. Need to pay attention to size dimensions. It is too large for my small night table, in terms of scale, in my guest bedroom. The back light is nice in the dark. I will move it to the dresser across the room, so it will work and I am keeping it. I bought one for my granddaughter's bedroom in green but will let them decide if it is too large for her nursery. They may return it, but I am keeping mine.
This is the best alarm clock I've ever owned. It has a classic style and looks great. It has a flashing light feature when the alarm first goes off. This works well when you are aiming to not awaken those in the next room. Or if you need to wear ear plugs because your loved one snores. If the light doesn't awaken you right away, an alarm noise will sound after about 5 minutes to ensure that you don't oversleep.
ProsDurable, Performing as Expected, retro analog clock
When I first ordered this clock about 5 years ago, I had to send it back because the alarm did not work. The replacement clock worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the alarm became erratic and then stopped altogether about a month ago. But, I love this clock so much (I like analog clocks, especially with a big clock face) that I decided to try returning it. I packed it up in a box, enclosed a note, and a very nice customer service representative called me. She wanted to make certain I wanted a replacement and to let me know what was available. I just wanted to say that LL Bean is a terrific company that really does stand behind its products. I can't think of many other stores that would allow a return of an item that is far past its warranty. Thank you LL Bean and your wonderful and helpful employees.
